Scottish comedy veteran actor to star in new BBC Scotland sitcom

The stars of highly favorite Scottish programmes, Gary Tank Commander and Rab C Nesbitt, are to join forces for a new comic drama.

Greg McHugh and Gregor Fisher are to play father and son in BBC Scotland comedy series Only Child.

The show will accompany budding writer Richard (McHugh), who travels home to north east Scotland to care after his aging and wilful dad Ken (Fisher).

The north east and Glasgow will be a place for filming .

the Only Child is a fictional comedy from Happy Tramp North, Written by Bryce Hart, the co-producers of the hit BBC show Guilt.

The show will showcase neighbor feuds, domestic and inter-generational differences through the lens of Richard and Ken’s father-son relationship.

Greg McHugh said: “Bryce Hart has written a really great show, and I’m so happy to be a part of it. ‘Dream gigs’ are often like that… but I’ve been assured that this one is real. Yes ! “

McHugh made his name playing the title role in BBC Three’s Gary the Tank Commander. He also starred in the comedy Fresh Meat and the drama The A Word.

Gregor Fisher is best known for playing the title character in the comedy series Rab C. Nesbitt, but he has also gained recognition on the big screen for films such as Love Actually and The Merchant of Venice.

He said “I’m not really one for giving quotes, but I am very excited for looking forward to working with young McHugh.

The show will be air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
