Buckingham Palace said on Monday that the 75-year-old king has been diagnosed with a form of cancer and will step back from public duties to receive treatment for the disease.
The palace has revealed little about the king’s diagnosis, except to confirm that it was discovered during a recent procedure to cure an enlarged prostate.
Both of his sons were informed of his diagnosis before made the public announcement.
The king and queen smiled and waved as they left their home, Clarence House, in London on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak earlier said that the King’s cancer had been “caught early” and told he was still in “regular contact” with the king.
